Simplify Personal Payments with 'Send Money'
SUMMARY: Paying other people electronically can be challenging with so many options. The Credit Union has a simple solution, which now includes recurring and scheduled payments.
After having lunch with a friend, you realize you left your wallet at work.
"No problem," he says, "You can just send me the money on your phone."
Easy, right? Not necessarily. With such a wide assortment of personal payment apps and options out there – Zelle,® Cash App,™ Venmo,® Paypal,™ Apple Pay,® Google Pay,™ etc. – it can be challenging to figure out which one is best for you.
"Do you have Zelle?" your friend asks.
While Zelle is not integrated within our online banking platform, we can still send and accept money from them. But before you head to the app store, download another app and input a bunch of personal banking info, why not check out the the Credit Union's personal payment feature, Send Money.
It's simple and easy to use, and if your friend isn't in the Send Money network, it even offers them the ability to accept payment in a variety of different ways. Plus, you can send a payment in the future or on a recurring weekly or monthly basis.
You also don't need to keep track of an additional payment app because this feature is available to any member with both an active checking account and a debit card.
Here's how it works:
-
-
Log into online banking on your desktop or within our app.♦
-
Click on "Payments & Transfers" in the main menu and scroll to "Send Money."
-
To send a one-time payment, enter your friend's email or phone number and the amount you want to send and click “Transfer Funds.”
- To send a scheduled or recurring payment, click on the clock icon and enter your friend's email and the amount you want to send and follow the prompts. You can select never (one time payment), weekly or monthly. Please note: Scheduled and recurring payments can only be sent to an email address.
-
Your friend will receive a link via text or email alerting them that the funds are ready to be transferred. They will then make the choice to receive the money via Venmo, Paypal or into a checking account .
If your payee is a Credit Union member or their financial institution is within the Send Money network, the funds will be transferred directly to their Credit Union account, provided you input the email and phone number associated with that account.
As with any personal payment option, it's best to only send money to people you know. No other personal information – such as their account number – is necessary, which adds an added sense of security.
Take the guessing out of your next personal payment interaction and use Send Money to pay your friends safely and easily.
